Baby not reaching for toys
Hello Doctor...my baby is 4 months old. He will pull my hair or try pinching with tight grip but doesn't grab toys. We have to give the toy in his hand that's when he holds it for few seconds before dropping. Is this normal? How to encourage him to grab toys?

He has got good palmar grasp which is normal for his age. Hope he keeps smiling around and hope he recognizes you by now. And hope he's making some ah whoo sounds. This points normalcy at this age. He would hold or grab toys by 6 months

If he is having social smile, holding his neck when picked up and cooing as of now, you can wait for grab to develop for 1 more month

Thank you for your concern, your observation is correct. As hair or finger is small object which is easier to hold and many times it is found that toys are thicker for babies to hold. This is normal development
