Baby not latching easily
Hi, my baby girl is 7 days old. Her current weight is 2.55kgs. She is not latching on my breast as my nipples are very big for her. I am expressing my milk and feeding her with a spoon. Can i pump my milk and feed her with bottle? I tried nipple shield as well but again she is very impatient to latch on that. Will expressing and feeding with bottle be safe option for my baby?

Latching is an important part of breastfeeding process and does not depend on the size of nipples.. initially some advise nipple shield .. however, latching is more dependent on the technique and I would advise to go through various videos or lactation counseling freely available  to get a hang of it.. also.. becoming a master by continuously doing it.. helps the baby and mother to bond and feed . All the best.

Hi I can fully understand your worry . Nipple size does not matter at all... if this is your first baby.... you need proper lactation advice. It would be best of we could connect directly so thta I can help you out remotely.... Else best option is go to a pediatrician who will address this issue.. Use of bottle a big NO. Yes you can give expressed milk for your child and consult with local gynaecologist for more help regarding your nipple problem. While doing bottle feeding much chances of getting infection so try to give breastfeeding.

Ur baby is just 7days old, she is going to feed for a long time. Contact a breast feeding consultant n try to improve breast feeding. Expressing milk n feeding by bottle is only a temporary solution not feesible in the long run. Bottle feeding can cause infection , sterilise bottle well before every feed. Also, breast milk will reduce gradually if baby doesn't suckle. So, encourage baby to latch n feed, she will get used to it.
