Appendicitis surgery
My husband has his appendix surgery yesterday as he was having mild pain for past two days on the right side. After the doctors took ct they sd acute appendicitis and removed. After the surgery the doc sd we found some mucus gel around that area we have sent it for biopsy and can be told only after the reports. Is this alarming? Please advise on this doctors. Attaching specimen for your reference

Yes. As opined by your treating surgeon, need to wait for the biopsy report. Based on final histopathology, further plan can be decided. Presence of mucin within appendix or around it due to rupture could be due to a mucocoele appendix/ Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms(low grade/high grade), Appendiceal mucinous adenocarcinoma. Management differs between all of these.
