I’ve almost completed 15 days of anxiety medication, but I still don’t feel okay. Even when I’m alone for a short time, and sometimes even in crowded places, my symptoms suddenly become very intense. My legs (up to my thighs) and hands start feeling numb/heavy, and I feel pressure in my head along with extreme restlessness and fear.
I got full body checkups done and everything came normal. Because of that, people around me keep saying that this is “just in my mind” and that I’m only feeling anxious because I keep thinking about anxiety. Now they are also saying that if medicines are not working yet, then maybe nothing is actually wrong.
After hearing all this, I’ve stopped sharing things with people because I feel misunderstood. What should I do? Is it normal for anxiety symptoms and physical sensations to continue like this even after starting treatment?

Yes, you are having prominent anxiety symptoms and medicines can take upto 4-6 weeks to show response and even anxiety symptoms can worsen also initially, so it doesn't mean that you are not having problems or medicines are not working.

Hi
Yes, this can still happen even after 15 days of medication. Anxiety medicines often take a few weeks to work properly, and meanwhile the nervous system can still stay highly sensitized. The numbness, heaviness, head pressure, restlessness, and fear you’re feeling are very common physical symptoms of anxiety and panic even when medical tests are normal.
Please don’t invalidate yourself just because others don’t understand it. “It’s in your mind” does not mean it’s fake. Anxiety affects the body very strongly. Medication plus therapy usually works much better than medicine alone, especially for calming the nervous system and reducing fear of symptoms. Take therapy. Yes, anxiety can cause very real physical symptoms like numbness, heaviness, head pressure, restlessness, fear, and weakness even when medical tests are normal. And importantly, 15 days is still very early, many anxiety medications can take 4–6 weeks to show full benefit.
So please don’t lose hope or feel that “nothing is wrong.” What you’re experiencing is valid, and many people with anxiety feel misunderstood because the symptoms are invisible to others.
Continue follow-up with your psychiatrist, avoid stopping medications on your own, and try adding therapy/counselling if possible. Recovery is gradual, but it does get better with proper support and treatment.
