Anxiety Medicine Discontinuity
Hi, I got Anxiety attack 2 yrs back and started on Pati medicine. Initially 6 months on Pari 25 and then reduced to 20, after 1 year reduced to 10 and 5, then I got again in Jan this year and Doctor advised to continue for some more time. Then I started in 25 for month and on 20 for last 10 months and now on 10 mg for last 10 days. I'm feeling normal after reducing the dose. Just want to check can I stop taking Pari 10 as well after one month? When I checked with my Doctor, He told whenever I feel comfortable reduce the dose for 10 days and stop. But how to know that when I stop I won't get this again? I'm feeling comfortable now on 10 mg from last 10 days. Please suggest when can I stop? Major reason of trying to stop is, I gained 12 Kgs weight in one year due to this tablet.

Anxiety disorder is a chronic disorder which will get better but relapses do happen. You can restart when u have symptoms again. If symptoms are mild and very few episodes it can be managed without medication try and talk about the same with your treating doctor. Get thyroid assessment done every 6 months as it can contribute to severity and relapses.
