I was sitting at the far end of a moving car on a sunny hot afternoon.I suddenly noticed a drooling dog on the pavement.Is rabies airborne? I read in the internet that transmission is possible through contact with mucous membrane.In my case is there a risk?

It is not possible for you to contract the disease without any real bitting. For contact with mucous membrane, bitting would be pivotal.
Also, just because the dog was drooling and perhaps looked ferocious, doesn't mean as a rule of thumb that it was rabied.
