Some researches show a definite connection between hypothyroidism. There are many studies in this area with varied and often conflicting results. Thyroid hormone governs our body’s metabolism and energy production. Without adequate levels of thyroid hormone and its proper utilization, symptoms such as depression, anxiety, mood swings, brain fog and poor concentration become increasingly prevalent. Disturbances in thyroid function may significantly affect mental status including emotion and cognition. This is only one opinion. There could be other reasons too. As your son is already under treatment for hypothyroidism, you should update the development to your Endocrinologist and consult a Psychiatrist.
This is depression. Hypothyroidism may be its cause but there may be other causes also like relationship problems , career problems ,work pressure , stress etc.
Take proper treatment of Hypothyroidism and take medicine regularly.
For depression u must consult Psychologist or Me online or offline and take proper mental health management.
It is very much necessary for ur son's health.

Dear mam
I can imagine you must be quite concerned about your son.
Feeling low, lack of interest in things, being isolated and withdrawn are all symptoms of Clinical depression, which often occurs in people who have hypothyroidism. He is already taking treatment for hypothyroidism. Please see a psychiatrist in person for a detailed evaluation to rule out depression or other mental health problems. Treatment of depression consists of medications as well as psychological therapy. Many people in the same situation are able to come out of it and lead a productive life with right treatment and support. Encourage him to see a psychiatrist at the earliest.
Thanks
