An inhealing wound of leg below knee

Asked for Male, 52 Years

My dad got an injury while stepping on the stairs of the bus on his leg below knee. He consulted many doctors but seems like the wound is not healing for 3 months. At last doctor suggested for MRI test. Aftr test the result is this - "MRI of left leg reveals cellulitis with pus collection showing short sinus tract at anterior aspect of upper part of left leg but showing no obvious bone involvement" after this the concerned doctor suggested for operation.. Something like removal.. Is it okay?
