Adam Apple Surgery
One of my transwoman went for Adam apple surgery in October. Though the surgery was successful but her voice got deeper. Please suggest me what to do.

Hello I'm Dr Nikita Iyer. Generally the surgery done is essentially the process of tightening the cords to help raise the pitch of voice this feminizing the voice.

sometimes the voice initially can get deeper but then become high pitched. But since the surgery was done in October and still the voice is deep then it could be due to scar formation or fibrosis for which a laryngoscopic evaluation must be done.
Ask your friend to visit her voice surgeon for a follow up evaluation and also to check in with the speech therapist who would help in maintaining the pitch of the voice.

Avoid prolonged conversations in raised voice as well as throat clearing as this can cause further vocal cord damage by causing friction between them.
