U can’t say it js acute pain at this age of 53 since u might have had pain before itself u need to have a digital x ray to confirm the reason for numbness and once it is diagnosed then start Physiotherapy for ur neck and back

Do u have any pain n discomfort in neck. U might be having cervical nerve impingement. Start using hot pack on neck. Avoid thick pillow. Start doing exercises of neck(isometrics). Also visit to the Physiotherapist
