Acne Scars and Open Pores
Hi! I had severe acne till 2-3 years ago, which were treated with isotretinoin. I don't have active acne anymore, but I have scars on my cheeks, and very visible open pores. My skin is oily and prone to excess sebum. I have tried several topical treatments but none is permanent. I even took 4 sessions of fractional laser, but it didn't give me desired results. What procedures should I opt for to permanently remove scars, and tighten open pores?

Hello! Acne scars are classified into many types. They can be icepick scars which look like open pores or they may be crater like. A skin analysis with a dermatologist will be able to help you with that. There are different procedures for treatment of different scars. But maximum effectiveness happens with a combination of therapies. Therapies that may be combined as per your scars are dermaroller with prp, TCA peel, laser resurfacing , subscision etc. You have to have realistic expectations for the results as most therapies will act slowly and mainly aimed at collagen remodelling which is a slow process.

Scars should be treated with laser resurfacing treatment. There are different kind of scars and different lasers are needed for the treatment. Also the energy used and the skill of the person is also a factor in the results.  Please visit my clinic for proper examination and treatment advice.
