Acne breakouts
Hello Dr. I am zeena. Basically from south India. 35 year old housewife and mother of 2 kids. 5 months back I relocated to kolkata. Around 2 months the after shifting here I started getting severe acne breakouts. Now it is spreading towards my neck too. I tried many home remedies (face packs with neem, tulsi, turmeric, etc), and reduced spicy food and increased the intake of whole, fresh food. But nothing is working. I am very much worried. I didn't have this much acne even in my teenage. Pleas

The treatment of acne differs according to the grade of involvement. Some people have more oilyness on the face which results in breakouts. After completing treatment for controlling the active breakouts, tablets can be stopped and creams need to be continued to prevent recurrence. Diet and lifestyle modifications are also important. Please don't do any self treatment such as over the counter Steroid creams. Don't burst the pimples with your fingers as it can result in ugly scars. The marks and pores left behind after the pimples heal can also be treated. Please call me or send your photos through online consult option for detailed prescription and diet advice..

The severity of acne dictates the choice of treatment. In the early grades of acne even the cream might suffice however in moderate to higher grades tablets also need to be taken. The treatment has to be continued for a few months otherwise the pimples would tend to return easily. Kindly do not self medicate without professional advice as that could further damage your skin. also, getting acne post 30 we need to rule out a hormonal cause..... Between the 2nd to 5th day of your menstrual cycle get your S.FSH and S.LH blood test done along with USG (sonography) of your pelvis to check for ovarian cysts. you can follow up with me once you have the reports by meeting directly(preferably) or through online private consultation. Get an online consult privately with pictures or meet a dermatologist directly for a proper evaluation of the condition. Hope this was helpful.
