ACL tears can present variably from patient to patient. Mostly surgery is indicated only in symptomatic patients eg feeling of knee giving away or buckling or constant pain. If these symptoms are absent then as conservative treatment physiotherapy exercises help in protecting the joints from further damage and avoiding early arthritis.
Next Steps
Please start physiotherapy exercises. Even in case of surgery it's better to try physiotherapy for 3 months before going in for surgery. I have seen patients recover with physiotherapy in severe grade 3 tear as well.
