Abortion issues. Surgery process only.

I was 5 weeks 5 days pregnant when i had an abortion with medicines provided by a gyna doctor. I was given one tablet to eat on 9th of october and then tablet were inserted manually in vagina on 10th of october after which bleeding started and lasted for almost 12 days. But till 20th day that is 29th october, continuosly spotting can be seen and even sometime very thick and sticky minor clots been found getting out. I had a second round of internal ultrasound on 29th oct evening and it was found few pieces has been still left in the uterus. I have been told that i might have to go through the d and c process to get it cleaned which i dont want. I need to know whether if it can be removed by oral medications or do i have to go through the surgery process only.  Regards
