I engaged in unprotected sex. I wanted to go for a blood test but the clinic told me visit after 3 months. It has been almost 2 months now. Can I go and get it checked now?

Hello.. The reason why the clinician has told you to come after 3 months is because HIV has a window period of as short as 12 days and as long as 3 months...there is no problem in you getting in checked now or earlier...but test results may show false negative in the window period which is the reason of asking you wait till 3 months... Window period is the period between time of first infection till the time it can be accurately detected... So even if you get it done now..you have to get it done again after 3 months..hope I have made it clear to you
