My father-in-law (72 yrs old) recently underwent an angiography, where 80% blockage in one artery and 70% blockage in another artery was detected. We were advised to go for an angioplasty in the arterty with 80% blockage.
We are now evaluating three stents - Resolute Integrity, Xience Prime and Promus Element. Can you please help us decide which one to go for?
Our cardiologist says all of them are good. But I have noted that the Promus Element is not bio-degradable. Should that affect our decision?

The stents you mentioned are good but not the best and none of them is biodegradable. The best ones especially the biodegradable ones are more efficacious & longer lasting but are expensive. But Because of the recent government regulation on same price for all categories of stents, these have been withdrawn by the companies. So you or your doctor don't have much choice (even if you can pay for the better ones or you have medical insurance). Go by any of the ones you have mentioned and pray for the best. They are all similar. Hope this helps.
