Whether to take Regestrone while periods

Asked for Female, 25 Years

I did not have my periods for 2 months and the next day when I was suspecting to be pregnant saw spotting. I was advised by doc to get UPT done and found that to be negative. She then suggested me to take Regestrone and after I have my normal periods wanted me to get few tests done. But without using tabs I see periods happen.Do I still need tablet
