PCOD/PCOS is a common reproductive endocrine disorder. In Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), excessive amounts of androgens ("male" hormones such as testosterone) are produced by the ovaries. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common cause of infertility, menstrual irregularity, and hirsute (excessive hair growth).
Insulin and Oral Contraceptives in controlled amounts is used as a treatment method in PCOS.
Known causes for PCOS:
- Genetic inheritance
- Insulin resistance in which case the cells can't use insulin properly
- Obesity can cause inflammation of the body and insulin resistance
- Exercise and a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy has shown to improve the status of the PCOS.
It is unlikely that the PCOD would cause weakness. I would advice to go to the nearest ER and undergo further evaluation and investigations so that the cause of your weakness can be found and treated accordingly.
