Normally VSD with pulmonary atresia has lot of aorto pulmonary collaterals which increase the pulmonary blood flow and patient develop severe pulmonary arterial hypertension.
In your case the BT shunt is done to start pulmonary blood flow as the collateral are not there.
Now once pulmonary artery and adequate lung is developed the doctor will do first corrective surgery.
Please contact pediatric cardiologist and font run for hypothetical solutions.
Wish your baby speedy recovery and healthy adult life.
