Is it necessary to give vitamin D drops to a newborn baby? We keep my son in the sun light for 2-3 hours in the morning.

Yes, it is indeed necessary to give Vitamin D drops to your newborn. Babies  are generally deficient in Vit D hence add on doses are required. Keeping the baby in the sunlight is an age old teaching which helps to replenish the Vit D stores but well that's not sufficient.

Dear parents, Yes Vit d3 is necessary as supplement for steady bony growth. Exposing to early morning sunlight is not possible round the year.
