Urgent treatment for UTI
She has been diagnosed with UTI and had taken injections prescribed by the doctor as per course. After a month we got the urine culture done and still the EColi is positive with 10000 cfu/ml in the report. She took Fosfona 3gm last night and thereafter started suffering from body ache, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Kindly suggest what should be done. Is this an emergency situation or side effect of the medicine? P.S: The patient is diabetic and takes insulin regularly.

Dual antibiotic should have been given if you have been given only fosfomycin. Also, get a usg abdomen to rule out other causes of vomitings etc.
