UNPLANNED PREGNANCY
Hello Doctor I am 11 days late from my due date of periods. I and my husband are not ready to concieve yet and we had unprotected sex. Yesterday, I did check myself with the help of I-Can in the morning and the results were negative. I brought three kits, out of which I used two of them yesterday (result being Negative) and today I tested again in the morning and found it negative. There aren't early signs of pregnancy as such but sometimes I feel minor cramps in my lower abdomen. I have recently started my dance workout sessions. Can the exertion caused due to dance be a major cause of my delayed periods? If not then I would want to know what should be the next step after this, as I don't want to further extend my days and miss chances of having Medical termination of pregnancy, if at all I am pregnant. Kindly revert back soon with your assistance on this. Thanks and Regards

Hi, Well it seems unlikely at this moment that you might be pregnant. But need to know how your usual pattern of periods is. Moreover you are slightly on higher side of the weight for your height. So this can be very well be the first reason why the periods may be delayed. Dance and vigorous exercise may affect the periods. But it can have both effect. So we put it on a second cause. So if you think you had protected relations you needn't worry. To have periods you can wait for 3-4 days more and see. If you still don't get it, recheck the pregnancy and if negative seek medicines for getting periods which may be in the form of progestogens. If there is no pregnancy , the best solution to prevent such problems in future is to loose weight.
