Cervical incompetence is unrelated to weight of the patient
This can recurr
You will require stitch in the subsequent pregnancy if the length of the cervix is less than 2.5 cm and the diameter of the internal is is more than 8 millimeters at 12 weeks

When all scans and tests are normal and loss happens in the second trimester, the most likely cause is cervical incompetence. In this condition, the cervix opens painlessly without contractions, and it cannot be predicted by routine tests. Baby growth, heartbeat, semen parameters, and genetic tests can all be normal.
Regarding weight:
High BMI is not a direct cause of cervical incompetence. Please do not blame yourselves.
Will stitching (cerclage) help?
Yes. In future pregnancy, a prophylactic cervical stitch at 12–14 weeks along with close monitoring significantly reduces the risk of recurrence and has good success rates.
Next steps:
• Pre-pregnancy counseling with a gynecologist
• Weight optimization (helpful but not mandatory)
• Early booking in next pregnancy and planned cerclage
With proper care, many couples go on to have a healthy baby.
