Are the ultrasound scan always recommended for woman in the 1st trimester? Is preganews test sufficient or should we go for hcg test?

A Urine pregnancy test would be sufficient if 2 clear dark lines appear .A Ultrasound scan is recommended to find out the exact gestational age and the site of pregnancy . the viability and would rule out any other problems too. Ultrasound scans are not harmful in anyway to the pregnancy.
