Ulcerative Collitis. Some side effects?

In a diagnosed case of ulcerative colitis, steroids may be required to in the beginning to get prompt response if there are lot of symptoms and weakness and there is no satisfactory response after starting a Mesalazine. Steroids are considered the safe, considering the risk & benefits of use of steroids. Steroids are used for short duration and then gradually steroid dose is tapered down and stopped. 2. The ulcerative colitis is a disease of body autoimmunity. there may not be the family history. 3. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic disease so it’s a disease of life long duration. This disease remains under control with the use of various medicine under the supervision of expert gastroenterologist. There is no cure for this disease by medicine. Surgery is the only curative treatment for ulcerative colitis but the surgery decided based upon the response of person by various medications. Surgery is usually last option. Surgery is indicated when there is no response to medicines, complications are developing with long term use of medicines, or development of cancer in colon. 4. Side effect of medicines: Every medicine is given to get a benefit and when side-effects become significant then another line of medicine is started.

Cancel to the gastroenterologist and follow his advice and medicine since yearly. Faith in a doctor and have a good diet. Have a faith in the doctor and have a healthy diet to improve immunity.
