Hello, The type of pain you are describing—mild, dull, around the umbilical area, and coming and going over years—is not typical of chronic pancreatitis. Pancreatic pain is usually more severe, located in the upper abdomen, often radiates to the back, and may be associated with weight loss, loose stools, or worsening after meals. Your symptoms are more likely related to functional bowel issues, acidity, gas, or abdominal wall discomfort, which are quite common and usually benign. However, since you have long-standing type 1 diabetes, it is reasonable to evaluate once to rule out any underlying issue. What you should do next: • Get basic tests: CBC, LFT, serum amylase/lipase • Ultrasound abdomen • If symptoms persist, consider CT abdomen (only if advised) Seek urgent care if you develop: • Severe persistent pain • Vomiting • Weight loss • Oily stools Overall, this does not sound like chronic pancreatitis, but a simple evaluation will help reassure you.
