Your mother’s TSH level of 7.31 is above the normal range, which suggests subclinical or mild hypothyroidism since T3 and T4 are normal. Does She Need Medication? ✅ If she has symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, or dry skin, treatment may be required. ✅ If she has no symptoms, monitoring every 3-6 months is recommended. ✅ In some cases, even mild hypothyroidism may need thyroid hormone replacement therapy if it progresses. Link Between Hypothyroidism & HbA1c? Yes! Hypothyroidism can increase insulin resistance, leading to higher HbA1c levels (hers is 6.3, which indicates prediabetes). Treating hypothyroidism may help improve blood sugar control. Next Steps: I recommend a detailed consultation to decide whether medication is necessary and discuss lifestyle changes for both thyroid health and blood sugar control.
