Hello doctor,
My mother had undergone a breast removal post diagnosis of breast cancer in 2017 . She was given a Herclon / herceptin with 13 doses in year 2018.
She is taking eltroxin 125 mg and has asthma.
Recently in her yearly checks she was diagnosed with a condition -" Traces of Pericardial effusion noted" iner echo reports( report attached)
Her ECG shows normal.
I just wanted to check whether is this worrisome?
Please advise sir.
Thanks

Pericardial effusion can be reactionary or accidental finding. It is a subjective finding and sometimes pericardial fat also is confused with pericardial effusion. Trace amount of pericardial effusion is not considered significant and needs regular monitoring. If any particular reasons of collection of pericardial fluid like infections, post cancer metastasis, protein deficiency, renal dysfunction if any needs to be ruled out. She is already hypothyroid and that itself could lead to fluid collection in the Pericardium.
