My son aged 9 months is on breastfeed since birth. After six months, we have started giving top up food like ragi, oats, mashed fruits (mango, banana, papaya, apple), daliya, khichdi. All these food items mashed and very light. In the morning we make him drink 2 spoonful of black raisin water and almond cream. As he is growing, should we start giving him top up milk in addition to breast milk. If yes, which milk you suggest cow milk or milk supplements like lactogen 2, nanpro 2 or any other brand. Please guide.
Lately I have observed that whenever my son is latched to his moms breast wile feeding, he feeds for not less than half an hour and goes into deep sleep while feeding. Seems he is not finding the breast milk to be sufficient for him.
Will be waiting for your reply.

As long as you are breast feeding your child no need to add top milk..you can give home made mashed food..fruits, boiled, potato,Dal rice,khichdi,sheera,upma.. everything home made.. continue Breastfeeding till 2 years of age.. Amount of milk is adjusted to need of child..As child grows amount of milk decreases but its main function is to protect child from infection and promote brain growth..so continue Breastfeeding, keep giving home made mashed foods and no need to add top milk
