If your husband is still experiencing pain a week after his silver filling, it could be due to residual inflammation from the infection or procedure, an uneven filling causing pressure, nerve irritation, or an infection that hasn’t fully resolved. It's important for him to visit the dentist for a follow-up to check the filling's fit and determine if further treatment, such as a root canal, is needed. In the meantime, pain relief medication can help manage the discomfort.
Next Steps
Should take Xray of the tooth at the earliest.

Dear patient, And xray is needed to correctly diagnose the problem here. But from what you mentioned, looks like you need to go for rct of the tooth. Take care.
Next Steps

In my opinion you should consult a nearby dentist or the same, from whom you got previously treated and ask him to take dental IOPA X-ray for further confirmation for the possible pulpal involvement of the tooth, which could go for Root Canal Treatment. Thanks.

Hi mam Whenever you feel any pain during chewing or while lying definitely decay is near pulp only. Get a x ray for that tooth..you need to proceed with root canal therapy...first treatment is remove that filling then bit pain will reduce.. RCT along with tablets will cure the pain
Next Steps
visit your near by dentist nd remove the filling nd start RCT along with tablets
Health Tips
whenever you are having pain in teeth don't do any treatment without a x ray.

Hello, Persistent pain after a silver filling can be due to various reasons. I recommend a follow-up appointment to assess the filled tooth and surrounding area. Possible causes: - Incomplete removal of decay/infection - Inadequate filling material - Tooth sensitivity - Bite issues - Hidden cracks/fractures Please book an appointment at Gupta Dental Clinic, Giridih, and bring previous dental records/X-rays. Treatment options may include: - Re-filling/repairing existing filling - Root canal treatment (RCT) - Dental crown/cap - Medication for pain management Let's address your husband's dental concern together. Best regards, Dr. Pratikshit Anand"

Hello Was an xray done before the filling?? If not xray needs to be done. Sometimes there are possibilities that the cavity might be deep and is almost near the pulp of the tooth which causes pain if there is pressure of the filling. If not a case of that there might be some high points present with filling which needs to be cleared. Also there might be sometines sensitivity post filling. You can observe for few days if still the issue doesn't resolve kindly visit your dentist

Teeth are comprised of three layers. When tooth decay is confined to the outer most layer that is enamel patient doesn’t usually show symptoms of pain. Tooth decay when reaches the second layer , Dentin the patient experiences some sensitivity and pain as this layer has multiple nerve endings. The pulp being the innermost layer is highly innervated and is core of the tooth. When decay approaches the pulp is when patient experiences severe pain as the pulp is being infected. Now from what you have stated we are not sure as to which layers are encroached. When a heavy filling is done on the infected pulp it can cause a continuous gnawing pain. Sometimes pain can be because of high points from the filling as well but it usually is present during biting and chewing.
Next Steps
Kindly provide an xray for better understanding and diagnosis.
Health Tips
If pain persists kindly visit a dentist for assessment.
