Hello,
Your throbbing pain suggests that the nerves of your tooth are involved. It may require a root canal treatment. Ear pressure and jaw pain can either be due to the abscess or infection caused by the involved tooth since the nerve supply of the lower tooth goes upto the jaws, ear and head. If the cause of your jaw pain is independent of the infection, you might simultaneously have a jaw joint disorder.
Next Steps
Please visit to get a clinical examination and an x-ray done. If adequate structure of the tooth is available, Dentist will suggest you to go for a root canal treatment. Also get your Jaw joint evaluation done for any existing TMJ issues.
Your symptoms are highly suggestive of an acute dental abscess or irreversible pulpitis (infection inside the tooth). Pain increasing while lying down is a classic sign of pulpal inflammation due to increased blood flow pressure.
Mild facial swelling indicates the infection may be spreading and should not be ignored.
Next Steps
• Immediate clinical examination & X-ray
• Root Canal Treatment (if tooth is restorable)
• Extraction if severely damaged
• Antibiotics only if swelling/infection is confirmed
Health Tips
Do not delay, as dental infections can worsen rapidly.
Kindly consult a dentist at the earliest for proper diagnosis and relief.
