Though it is a digestive condition, gastroesophageal reflux can damage teeth and gums by allowing powerful stomach acids to flow back into the mouth. One of the most common effects of gastroesophageal reflux is tooth erosion, a breakdown of a toothâs protective outer coating (enamel) caused by acid washing up into the mouth. Teeth can become thin, sharp, chipped, pitted, yellow and sensitive. A lower salivary pH can also damage soft tissues of the mouth, and is linked to gum disease. The acid causes irritation of your gums which can turn into periodontal (gum) disease.
Next Steps
Consult the dentist and physician for definite diagnosis and treatment.
Health Tips
Maintain oral hygiene. Chew sugar-free xylitol gum. After a reflux episode, rinse your mouth out with water. Avoid alcohol, caffeine and spicy and acidic foods and beverages. Use a straw.

Gastric reflex can leads to damage of teeth and oral ulcerations. I suggest you to consult a dental surgeon for further examination of your oral cavity. Vitamin deficiency, intake of spicy foods, low intake of drinking water in a day, irregular eating pattern are some of the factors which leads to acid refluxes.
Next Steps
Avoid taking spicy foods to an extend and drink 2L of water every day.
Jaw pain, sensitivity and ulcers are common in gastro-esophageal reflux. If possible click a picture of the mouth and get a consultation so that problem can be diagnosed properly.
