Teeth cleaning
I went to dentist in February this year and they said I have 4mm pocket on one tooth in right side. So they told me to do deep cleaning. They did right side only that day. The hygienist said other teeth had normal pockets and only one tooth was little high. She cleaned all teeth though one on the right side. Asked me to come back for left side deep cleaning. But she didn't tell me if I have deep pockets left side. She probed it and said not very bad. Can we do regular cleaning on left side if pockets are normal ? Or do we need to do only deep cleaning on left since right side is deep cleaned ? 1. Can we do regular cleaning on right side now? I am going to see a new dentist and they told me they will do regular cleaning on right side. Is it ok to have regular cleaning after 2 months of deep cleaning? 2..can we skip deep cleaning on left side and do normal cleaning? Thanks.

Their is no side effects of ultrasonic cleaning. Infact if their is recurrent infection then you can repeat scaling after every 6 months. But along with scaling you need to improve your hygiene also. If their is pocket then repeating or not repeating scaling will depend on clinical situation of tooth. If possible attach some clear photographs of effected tooth. Still have queries then please consult with doctor online or offline for better guidance and treatment options.

Ultrasonic scaling is recommended every 6 months for every individual. Deep cleaning to be done or not will be decided on the current condition of gums and teeth on clinical examination.

That's all right to do normal scaling after 6 months from deep( subgingival) scaling.. without pocket it doesn't require subgingival scaling .. only scaling above gum line (supragingival)removes superficial plaque that u told as normal cleaning is enough
Next Steps
u should do definitive treatment where periodontal pocket exists.. either having crown over the tooth to minimize the pocket or regular maintenance by flossing or inter dental brush
Health Tips
visit dentist for proper treatment of pocket or tooth will become mobile or carious in future

Hello, It is good to get the normal scaling done after 6 months from deep (subgingival) scaling. Subgingival means Below the gum levels. Supragingival means Above the gum levels. Subgingival scaling is done when there is deep pocket around the tooth. Supragingival scaling is done to remove stains, plaque & hard deposits above the gum levels, which can also be called as normal scaling.
Next Steps
Visit a Periodontist (Gum Specialist) for better evaluation of the issue.
