Hello sir, according to your complaints swelling in foot generally occurs due to prolonged sitting and decreased mobilization at joint.
Ask her to do
1) foot movements (moving the foot up and down and rotation)daily twice or thrice.
2)hot water bath (immerse foot in salted Luke warm water )
3) place her legs in the equal level or little lower to her sitting position
4) if she is also suffering from knee pains, calf pressing with mild pressure will give her comfort
5)ask her to do straight leg raises (lie on the back with legs straight and ask to raise one leg straight with foot towards her ,later the other leg.)5 repetitions twice a day.
Next Steps
if any neurological symptoms (tingling, numbness)please do consult a neurologist.
Health Tips
avoid prolonged sitting , keep pillow under the ankle while sleeping , knee stockings while walking for support.
Does she is a diabetic patient ?
Elevation of legs while on bed help reduce swelling, apply hot/ice pack twice a day.
Take her to neurologist for proper assessment and treatment.
