At what age would you recommend going in for orthodontic treatment? Is treatment time as an adult the same as in children?

Hi..it usually starts at 12 years upto 40 years. Here age is not the criteria but strong teeth, gums and jaw bone needed for teeth correction. If these are fine then braces can be done at any age with same results. Regards

Can be started from 13 years sometimes as early as 7 years. There is mo age limit. Depending on supporting gums and teeth sometimes we usr lesser forces. So in adults since bone density is more, it take a bit longer. Say 1-2 years depending on complexity. Wheras in children it might take 8 months to 1.8 years

The normal recommended age to start orthodontic treatment based on braces is after the second permanent molars erupt which is around 13 years of age. The myofunctional therapy component of orthodontic treatment can start as early as 7 to 8 years, although this modality is not very commonly seen in India. Otherwise braces can be put at any age and the only difference is that the duration of the treatment is slightly longer because the density of the bone increases with age. Regards.

Children should be taken for routine dental checkups and if there is a condition that requires intervention at an early age , they are advised appropriate treatment. Generally , depending on the eruption of permanent teeth, most children can start treatment at around 11-14 years of age. In adults, gum condition is an important factor to consider and after clinical examination and X-rays a dentist can guide you properly.
Health Tips
Treatment in adults may take a little more time as movement is slower. Also depends on the condition being treated.
