Hi doctor, we are trying to stop breastfeeding our 1 year 10 months old daughter. We used bitter gourd and lemon but she starts crying out very loud for long time and we end up giving her breast milk. Need suggestions on how to stop / reduce frequency

Hi
We advise to continue breastfeeding upto 2 years of age but you cannot stop it at once when your child reaches that age. It's good that you have started trying to stop it. But try to do that gradually over the period of next two months by decreasing the frequency slowly. Whenever she asks for breastfeeding , try to distract her by doing her favourite activity with her for eg some favorite game, toy, etc or try to offer her any food which she really likes. It will not happen overnight, you have to work constantly towards it. But slowly she will accept the new dietary regime.
