Her eyelids must have been droopy and she must have been drowsy(prefering to sleep).Your husband is already a doctor so i am sure must have done necessary measures like stomach wash and giving her antacids .But the question here is she should be given understanding how precious life is and kindly take her to a counsellor to prevent such further incidents.
