Indigestion and gas are the most common causes, often due to a poor diet, especially after consuming spicy or junk food. It may also be due to intestinal spasm or conditions like cholecystitis, particularly after fatty meals. You should visit us so that we can examine you properly and then advise appropriate medication

Sudden pain in the right side of the belly shortly after dinner, especially when accompanied by hard stools, is often a clinical indicator of Biliary Colic (Gallbladder related) or acute Gastric Spasm. When we eat a heavy or oily meal, the gallbladder contracts to release bile; if there are small stones or sludge, this contraction causes sharp pain. Additionally, constipation or trapped gas in the hepatic flexure (the turn in the large intestine on the right side) can also cause significant discomfort after a meal

Right side me sudden pain dinner ke baad hua hai aur stool thoda hard tha—most common cause simple gas + constipation related spasm hota hai. Kabhi kabhi acidity bhi aisa pain de sakti hai, especially night me. Agar pain upper right side (ribs ke neeche) me hai aur oily/spicy khane ke baad badh raha hai to gallbladder issue (stone etc.) bhi consider karte hain, but ek isolated episode me usually urgent nahi hota. Abhi kya karo: • Warm water / ajwain water le sakti ho • Light diet rakho (khichdi, daliya) • Gas relief (simethicone) + mild antispasmodic (drotaverine/meftal-spas type) le sakti ho • Constipation avoid karo—fiber + pani increase karo Red flags dhyaan rakho: • Pain increase ho raha ho ya shift karke right lower abdomen me constant ho jaye • Fever, vomiting, loss of appetite ho • Touch karne pe zyada dard ho Aisa kuch ho to appendicitis/gallbladder ke liye check karwana padta hai (USG). Agar 1–2 din me pain settle ho jata hai to mostly gas/constipation hi hai, tension wali baat nahi

Hello. I have reviewed your symptoms regarding the sudden pain on the right side of your belly. Pain on the right side after a meal can have several causes. Given that you are currently taking iron supplements, it is very common for these to cause constipation (harder stools), which can lead to localized cramping. However, we must also rule out other possibilities such as gallbladder issues or early appendicitis. To help me assess this better, please answer the following: Location: Is the pain in the upper right side (near the ribs) or the lower right side (near the hip bone)? Associated Symptoms: Do you have any fever, nausea, vomiting, or a bitter taste in your mouth? Tenderness: If you press on the area where it hurts and then let go suddenly, does the pain become sharper? Initial Recommendations Monitor Your Diet: Avoid heavy, oily, or fried foods for the next 24 hours. Stick to light, easily digestible meals like porridge or curd rice. Hydration: Increase your water intake. Iron supplements can be very dehydrating for the gut, and extra water can help soften the "hard" stools you mentioned. Observation: If the pain is mild and improving, it may be related to the iron-induced constipation or mild indigestion. Important Next Steps Ultrasound: As the previous doctor mentioned, an Ultrasound of the Abdomen and Pelvis is the most reliable way to check for gallstones or signs of appendicitis. Iron Supplements: If the constipation is causing significant pain, you might discuss with your doctor whether to switch to a different form of iron (like a liquid or chelated version) that is gentler on the stomach. Red Flags (Seek immediate ER care if): The pain becomes severe or shifts to the lower right side. You develop a high fever. You are unable to pass gas or have persistent vomiting. I hope you find relief soon. Please keep an eye on how the pain moves or changes.
