I went to a pulmonogist on march 26 and was diagnosed with pneumonia. She gave me antibiotics (co-amoxiclav) to be taken 2 times a day for 7 days. And duavent tp nebulize 3 times a day for 7 days. Got back on april 9 for my follow up check up and another xray. I still have a cough with phlegm. Never went away. and she gave me another antibiotics ( levofloxacin 750mg) to be taken once a day for 5days. And i am breastfeeding. And she also prescribed me with zykast and duavent again for a week.

If the chest Xray shows pneumonia, please get a sputum AFB smear report. You may require Sputum Gene Xpert if the pneumonia persists after the antibiotics.

Hi. I understand your concern s. If the pneumonia is still there on x ray after 2 weeks and if you still are symptomatic. You will need to undergo sputum examination for TB and also bacterial cultures. Instead of going in for a second course of antibiotics. If sputum is negative or you are unable to get sputum then you will need Bronchoscopy. Consult another pulmonologist for the same
