I had D &C 3 months back. I had spotting at 6 weeks. Featus heartbeat was normal, i took progesterone tablets for 10 days. After 12 week we went for scan, in that growth stopped at 7 weeks and 3 days.
I have conceived again, now 5 week 4 days. Spotting again, doctor has given progesterone.
My question is how does progesterone help?(I feel like last time till i ate progesterone, growth was there. Till 12 weeks no sign of miscarrige). Worried of such thing will happen again.

Progesterone is supportive hormone during pregnancy; progesterone pills or injections are helpful when bleeding and spotting is because of lack of progesterone.
If pregnancy (fetus) itself is not healthy ; progesterone won't act.
Nature will try to through it out of body.
If you are O negative and husband is the positive then ; you should do rh antibody titre and you should take injection Anti d after abortion or delivery within 72 hrs to prevent damage in next pregnancy.
Of the many reasons for abortion, chromosome defect in baby are something no one can correct. 30-40% of pregnancies end in abortion....
Of the preventable causes is uterine lining instability one where progesterone can be given ......hence progesterone is given to all pregnancies where bleeding occurs with a hope that it will help the pregnancy grow.
Even in same patient multiple abortion are possible and everytime the cause may not be the same.
So keep up your spirits, get treatment from a goid gynec who can supplement the pregnancy with some more medications......
But finally its the fetus's robustness which decides whether it will grow or not. Nature believe in rule of survival of the fittest.....so all we can do is get good medications, take rest, maintain health and provide for the pregnancy to grow......
As you are having negative blood group, I hope that at the last abortion you were given inj. Anti D......
