Spotting after Depo Shot Effectiveness?

I was administered the depo shot for the first time in late October 2017. That was the first time I've ever been on the shot! Well, it was a horrible experience because of terrible symptoms like irregular bleeding, etc. I decided once mid-January came, I was NOT going to get the shot again. I haven't gotten a regular period this month. I've been having off and on spotting, either brown or pink in color; sometimes a bit of red. Is that considered a period? Or why am I bleeding? What's the cause?

It has side effect of irregular bleeding. Which depo u hv used? Bcz it lasts for 2-3 months nly. Afterwards contraception needed. See gynaecologist
