Should bleeding keep happening

Asked for Male, 34 Years

I have been bitten by a dog on the inner left thigh and it's a puncture wound. Quite a bit of bleeding occurred at the spot. I have taken the tetanus and ARV injections and then ARS injection at two spots around the bite and one part of serum behind. I was told to keep the wound open. My question is the wound is oozing blood since yesterday when I was bitten. It was kind of dark blood yesterday. I put cotton to stop the bleeding overnight. It's oozing watery blood after removing the cotton again

Hello, I am Dr. Aditya Gudhate and try my best to answer your question. You say you have taken both ARS and ARV. Wound dressing is not done before taking these injections. But it can be done later and it should have been done in your case too. I suggest you get it dressed otherwise it can become infected (not by rabies but by bacteria on the skin).
