Care AI Shimmer
Abusive head trauma is the preferred term, rather than shaken baby syndrome The classical triad is retinal bleed (get urgent opthalmologist evaluation of retina), brain swelling or encephalopathy & subdural hematoma (require CT brain +/- contrast). If the opening in skull bone towards the front of top of head up anterior fontanelle is bulging & pulsatile, then urgent early evaluation required especially since vomiting (7-8times) present. Get early urgent expert help.
Next Steps
caretaker's education is critical As also ruling out (sadly child abuse, especially if girl child): even if it is a grandparent involved.
Health Tips
sadly public education is lacking in India: too many times, I have seen well-meaning parents throw crying kids up in air & catch them on way down: end results are the same, sadly!!
