Severe Fungal infection in foot
My father aged 63 yrs having diabetes since 10 years, got fungal infection in foot since 6 months. We consulted diabetologist and he gave amoxyllin and clavum antibiotics. Using it since 1 week still no improvement there is lot of swelling in the foot and pus kind of thing is moving upwards. having fever also after taking paracetamol he will be active for about 6 hours, later again the fever is back. Taking very little food. His RBS is 180. What to do? whom to consult? please suggest Thanks in advance

It would be ideal to visit a podiatrist or a general surgeon who also handles diabetic foot cases. Using abx like Amoxy/Clav may help against susceptible bacteria and prevent their growth. However, it may not have much of a role in treating the fungal infection. Since you mentioned, there is presence of Pus discharge, i would suggest getting a pus culture taken to modify antibiotics.
