Severe cramps and pain
I've been getting severe period cramps and excruciating pain, three years after I got my first period. The pain is so bad it disables me, but it lasts only for about a few hours (3-4), along with nausea during the first day. Is there any cause for this and how do I manage this pain. Painkillers don't seem to be very effective.

Hello, pain during menstruation is called dysmennorea(two types - primary and secondary). Primary is with out any underlying cause, as a normal process dye to excessive prostaglandin. Simple pain killers will help (like tab. Meftal-spas, two times a day after food). Where as secondary as many causes like - fibroids, adenomyosis, sexually transmitted infection, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), ovarian cyst or tumour, the use of an intrauterine device (IUD), a birth control method. Please consult a gynecologist to find the cause.
