You can take treatment it's your feel will... but if it's severe your should probably take allopathic medications for quick healing once it resume you can continue ayurvedic for further cure
From my side I would suggest you to please take aseptic precautions bcoz burn things are bit sensitive for infection
Thank for your query
You said severe Burn
Can you specify how much percentage and degree of burn in both cases if she is discharged from hospital that’s mean she is not in immediate danger still chances of infection is very high
She can get Aurvedic treatments but I recommend a sterile dressing on dailly basis to avoids any infection
Plus she may take medicine which was prescribed by Hospital along with Aurvedic treatments
I hope I have answered your query
Health Tips
Don’t compromise Sterile Dresing with Antibiotic Cream
You can get treatment wherever you want
But as per my opinion Burns are sensitive
They are treated differently, so if it’s possible Please visit a Surgeon or a Doctor who can properly guide you what to do according to the degree of burn
Severe burn not advised for ayurvedic only.
Need proper dressing, infection control, sometimes surgery.
Ayurvedic can be supportive later, not main treatment.
Better continue with surgeon follow up.
It is understandable that you want the best healing for your sister, but severe burns must be managed with extreme caution. While some natural treatments are used for very minor, first-degree burns, a 'severe' injury requires specialized medical care for several reasons:
1. The High Risk of Infection
A severe burn is an open wound. If it is not dressed in a sterile environment using medically approved ointments (like silver sulfadiazine), it can easily get infected. This can lead to a condition called sepsis, which is a medical emergency. Many traditional pastes are not sterile and can actually trap bacteria inside the wound.
2. Permanent Stiffness (Contractures)
When skin on the legs heals from a severe burn, it tends to shrink and tighten. If this isn't managed with proper bandages and daily physiotherapy, your sister may develop 'contractures,' where she might not be able to fully straighten or bend her legs in the future.
3. Nutritional Needs
A person with a severe burn needs a very high-protein diet to rebuild skin. This usually needs to be monitored by a doctor or a clinical nutritionist to ensure the body has enough energy to heal the wound.
My Advice:
I strongly recommend that she continues regular follow-ups with a Plastic Surgeon or a Burn Specialist. Even if you wish to use supportive Ayurvedic care for her general health, the wound dressing and physical therapy should strictly follow allopathic (hospital) protocols to prevent infection and permanent disability.
If you notice any pus, a foul smell from the wound, or if she develops a fever, please take her back to the hospital immediately.
Hello,
Severe burn injuries require proper medical (allopathic) management and regular follow-up, as they carry risks of infection, delayed healing, scarring, and fluid imbalance.
While certain Ayurvedic treatments may help in supportive wound care or later-stage healing, they should not replace standard burn care, especially in the early and critical phases.
Important points:
• Burn wounds need sterile dressings, infection control, and monitoring for complications.
• There is a high risk of secondary infection and delayed healing if not managed appropriately.
• If the burn was deep, it may even require specialized care like debridement or grafting.
Regarding Ayurvedic treatment:
• It can be considered only as an adjunct, and under supervision, once the wound is stable.
• Avoid applying any non-sterile or unknown substances directly on the wound.
Advice:
• Continue regular follow-up with a surgeon or burn specialist.
• Watch for warning signs: increasing pain, redness, pus discharge, fever, or foul smell.
• Maintain proper nutrition (high protein diet) for healing.
Do not rely solely on Ayurvedic treatment for severe burns. It is best used alongside, not instead of, standard medical care.
While Ayurvedic supportive care can sometimes assist in long-term skin healing, Standard Medical Care (Allopathy) is non-negotiable for severe burn injuries, especially in the early post-discharge phase. Severe burns involve deep tissue damage that requires sterile wound management, specialized dressings, and often skin grafting to prevent life-threatening infections and permanent physical deformities (contractures)."
Next Steps
"Discharging a patient after only 10 days of a severe burn injury to pursue alternative medicine can be dangerous because:
Infection Control: Burns are highly prone to bacterial infections. Standard care uses specific topical and systemic antibiotics that Ayurveda may not provide.
Fluid & Electrolyte Balance: Severe burns disrupt the body's fluid balance, which needs professional monitoring.
Scar Management: Improper care can lead to 'contractures,' where the skin tightens so much that it restricts limb movement."
Health Tips
"I strongly advise you to stay under the supervision of a General Surgeon or a Plastic Surgeon for regular wound debridement and sterile dressing. If you wish to use Ayurvedic supplements, do so only as a 'supportive' therapy alongside standard medical treatment, and only after consulting your surgeon. Do not replace professional wound care with alternative pastes or oils, as they can trap heat and bacteria, worsening the injury."
FOR ANY OTHER QUESTION YOU CAN CONNECT AND CONSULT
For severe burn injuries, proper wound care and monitoring are very important to prevent infection and complications.
Ayurvedic supportive treatments can sometimes help in healing, but they should not replace standard medical care, especially in the early stages.
To guide you better, please share Clear photos of the affected area, Details of when the burn happened ,Any dressing treatment currently being done
Based on that, I can suggest the safest next steps for healing and recovery.
Severe burn injuries require structured medical management and close monitoring, especially in the initial weeks. While Ayurveda may have a role in supportive care and wound healing in later stages, it cannot replace standard burn care, particularly in moderate to severe burns.
Burn injuries carry risks of infection, fluid imbalance, delayed healing, and scarring, and these are best managed under a trained surgical/burn care team. Early discharge with a shift entirely to alternative therapy should be approached with caution unless the wound has already stabilized and is healing well.
Next Steps
Ensure regular follow-up with a general surgeon or burn specialist
Continue proper wound care and dressing under sterile conditions
Maintain adequate nutrition (high protein diet) and hydration to support healing
Monitor for signs of infection: increasing pain, redness, swelling, pus discharge, or fever
If opting for Ayurvedic treatment, use it ONLY AS AN ADJUNCT, not as a replacement, and preferably under guidance of both systems.
In case of large/deep burns, assess if skin grafting or further intervention is required
Health Tips
-Avoid applying unverified home remedies or oils directly on open burn wounds
-Delayed or improper treatment can lead to serious complications and poor cosmetic outcome
-Seek urgent care if there is fever, foul-smelling discharge, blackening of tissue, or worsening pain
