Scratched by pet and bleeding a bit
Hi My pet dog was bitten by a stray dog in Aug 4th,2023. We took him to the vet where he was given the vaccination. He was already vaccinated for rabies in june as per his scheduled cycle plus got the vaccination done within 24 hrs of stray dog bite. Last week on August 31st, I got scratched by his paws and it bleeded a bit. Should I be worried about taking rabies vaccination as it's already been more than a week the incident took place? please let me know.

Scratching by his paws does not advocate vaccination for you. Rabies spreads via saliva of an infected animal. So, don't worry you don't need to get vaccinated. However, keep it clean and dry. I hope it has healed by now.

Rabies spread from infected dog saliva direct contact to the other person or animal bleeding wound. It can happen due to a bite or lick. In your case, it is either of that and more over your dog is not an infected one. Your pet is already vaccinated and also got post bite shots, too. Since you didn't have any of the above-mentioned risks and only got scratched by his nail, there is no need to worry about infection. No need to go for vaccination
