Scoliosis treatment. Sir. kindly advise.

Sir, I am having neck pain, shoulder stiffness and i feel uneasy while sitting. My job as an Officer in Bank, requires me to sit in a chair, talk to customers, take documents from them, computer work, and moving around. I have felt that when I bend forward I feel pain in my lower back. I went to a Doctor he did this X-Ray and advised me Scoliosis surgery. I queried him about surgery time, recovery time etc he told me it will take 4-6 hrs, next day I ll be able to walk to washroom, then 6 weeks to 3 months of rehabilitation. Later he said it's only a Cosmetic surgery which left me confused. Sir, I had no problems earlier in my life. I never knew if my spinal cord is curved, from birth time one of my arm is not straight, but beyond that I knew nothing. I am scared of surgery to be fair. You are a specialist sir. Kindly advise.
