If after scaling ,stains went ,they were extrinsic stains.
Follow 2-2-2 rule .. brush twice a day ,for 2 minutes and visit dentist twice a year for scaling and general check up !!
Health Tips
Drink water after drinks to avoid staining as we can’t avoid tea ,coffee etc

Scaling is the best oral hygiene procedure,6 month once it is recommended , if you have habits like more frequent tea coffee you can reduce and strictly avoid tobacco ,
Hello
It is advisable to get scaling done once a year so that any extrinsic stains which don't go with brushing are cleaned
You can use xtar toothpaste for long term effects
Intrinsic stains don't go by just scaling and polishing, however polishing can reduce its shade slightly. Intrinsic stains needs bleaching . extrinsic stains can be prevented by regular scaling and polishing at least once a year. However with good oral hygiene practise , you can definitely slow up it's progression.
