Cost can never be generalised
Even a properly done RCT may cost u ranging from 3000-6000
And as difference in these rates is also due to experience of the dentist , his/her speciality , materials used by them , locality of the clinic , armamentarium used
..
P.S - if pain relief is the criteria of a good RCT , then u even don’t need an RCT .. a simple opening up of tooth may solve pain
Criteria should be longevity of the tooth treated
So I highly recommend getting RCT done by an Endodontist (RCT specialist)

Due to the current Covid-19 scenario, it is quite obvious and rational of clinics to charge extra for consumables items like PPE, understand that it's for your own safety. Expect a price hike of upto 2000 on your usual RCT charges, at a well - equipped, ideal clinic with specialist consultants, expect charges upto 8000 for single-sitting RCT
Next Steps
I suggest you get a post-RCT permanent filling done atleast, and then you can wait to get a crown
Health Tips
you are NOT advised to chew on a RCT treated tooth, as it may fracture
RCT charges vary from doctor to doctor & city to city. It may costs you from 3000 to 6000. And charges for crown will be separate.
You can give a chance of permanant filling in the same tooth. Only if your tooth will not support any filling due to gross damage or if you are symptomatic then only your doctor will suggest you RCT.
